Methyl B - 12 Pre-post

Vitamin B-12 belongs to the B-vitamins. It works with folic acid to make DNA, red blood cells, and nerve cells. Many people lack B-12 due to poor diet, reduced stomach acid (known to facilitate the absorption of B-12), or less intrinsic factor, a key element secreted in our stomachs to absorb B-12. It is found naturally in animal sources such as liver, eggs, cheese, and meat. Combined with vitamins B6 and folate, B-12 helps with balancing homocysteine levels, a key health marker.  Methyl B-12 plays a crucial role in managing stress. Stress affects us all at some point in our lives. Whether it be physical or mental, our bodies utilize B vitamins during challenging times; therefore, an adequate supply is necessary. This very important nutrient is essential for nerve, hormonal, mental, and cardiovascular health. It is important for everyone, but especially for vegetarians and seniors who tend to be lacking B-12 in their diets or have less stomach acid secretion to absorb it. Bariatric WLS* patients must supplement with B-12, preferably with the methylcobalamin form. Vitamin B-12 can be found in two forms -- cyanocobalamin and methylcobalamin. Methylcobalamin is considered the active form of vitamin B-12 and may be better absorbed than cyanocobalamin. Savvy consumers know this and continue to request this more bioavailable form.
