At 3.3 cubic feet, it offers nearly double the interior capacity of the entry-level MBF1512 while retaining the same all-steel construction throughout, with no plastic components in the body, door, or hinge assembly. The body carries an overall wall thickness of 1-3/4", and the door measures 4-1/2" thick, both lined with fire-resistant board material. Three massive 1" diameter live locking bolts drive into the steel frame alongside steel dead bolts that prevent door removal even if the hinges are compromised, and the lock mechanism is protected by a drill-resistant hard plate backed by a punch-activated relocking device. On the fire side, the MBF2020E carries a 2-hour fire rating tested at temperatures up to 1,830°F, with interior temperatures held at or below 350°F throughout. A heat-activated door seal expands on contact to block smoke and gases from entering.
