Mercenary's War

First Open Port burned. Now it's personal. Anwyn Owens has seen what the Malvore do to neutral worlds. As her mercenary team escorts diplomats through the war-torn borderlands, she vows to find a way to stop them. The answer lies on the enemy's own colony world, if she can survive long enough to find it. Infiltrating a planet where golden-skinned Guardians execute dissidents in the streets should be suicide. But Anwyn discovers a hidden world beneath the capital: tunnels filled with refugee scientists, student fighters, and warnings of imminent disaster. Racing through ancient tunnels with resistance fighters, dodging Guardian death squads, and fighting in the skies above a dying city, Anwyn must uncover the truth about the Malvore before volcanic fire consumes everything. The fate of two civilizations rests in her hands, yet the price of victory might cost Anwyn the future she’s fought for during the past few years. Will Anwyn expose the Malvore's devastating weakness in time? Or will the planet's fiery heart claim them all? LJ Dix
