Merced River, Black Rock

Taken in the spring of 2020 during an expedition through Yosemite National Park. Many Native American tribes have lived on the Merced River including the Miwok (consisting of Plains Miwok and Sierra Miwok), Paiute, and Ahwahneechee. The Plains Miwok settled in the lowlands along the lower Merced River. In the early 19th century, military expeditions sent by Spanish colonists from coastal California traveled into the Central Valley. On one of these trips, headed by lieutenant Gabriel Moraga, the colonists arrived on the south bank of the Merced River thirsty and low on provisions. They named the river Rio de Nuestra Señora de la Merced (River of Our Lady of Mercy) because it provided much needed water.   Only 200 total prints are available for these sizes: 11 x 14, 16 x 20, 20 x 24.  Only 25 total prints are available for these sizes: 20 x 30, 24 x 36, 30 x 45, 38 x 48, larger per request. Once the maximum prints are made this image will be retired for life.  If there is another image you are interested in that is not listed, or for larger print sizes please feel free to reach out to me at Jack@jackcurranphotography.com Photo © copyright by Jack Curran Please Note: Due to the archival print quality we hold for all prints, it will likely take between 7-21 days for your print to arrive. Expect closer to 21 days if it was framed, and 7-10 if it was just rolled or matted.
