Melakhim I

This is a Hebrew only product. Melakhim I: Me’Aḥdut LeFilug is a sweeping and relevant intellectual journey through one of the most dramatic books in the Bible. The book deals with a decisive historical era in the history of the people of Israel — beginning with the golden age of the united monarchy under King Solomon and the building of the Temple, continuing through the division of the kingdom into Judah and Israel, and culminating in the process of religious and national decline that will ultimately lead to the destruction of the land and exile. Rabbi Amnon Bazak approaches this biblical drama with a master’s hand, faithfully reflecting the biblical perspective — a view that is both sensitive and compassionate, yet sharp and penetrating. As is his way in biblical interpretation, Rabbi Bazak combines traditional exegesis with modern analytical tools: structural analyses, identification of linguistic repetitions, character studies, and at times, new interpretive suggestions for familiar stories. Melakhim I: Me’Aḥdut LeFilug offers a fresh perspective on the peaks and depths of the events of the Book of Kings: the dilemmas of mission and despair, justice and mercy, political realism and prophecy, leadership and loss of direction, and more. All these are woven together anew in this book into a timeless message — serving as a moral signpost and an invitation to national introspection that calls to us anew in every generation.
