Fanciful Medusa Allium (Allium 'Medusa' PP# 28701) captures the imagination of all who view it. Place it where you and your guests can study its unique charms. Low growing, gray-green foliage grows up and out in an erect clump. Count on it as a fine-textured fill plant, with interesting twisted ends. Medusa becomes the star of the show starting in summer through early fall. Be fascinated by the cobra-like hooded flower buds growing on long, tall stalks that rise above the mounded foliage. They'll soon burst open into jewel-toned amethyst globes two-inches wide. Allium blooms catch the breezes, bending and swaying in a hypnotic dance. Grow them in the ground. Keep them in a streamlined modern container. Give them a sun-soaked spot, or let them brighten a space in partial shade. Wherever, or however, you use them...Medusa brings a whimsical, yet sophisticated accent for your late season border. Showy Alliums grab attention for weeks on end! Keep your camera ready. You'll be amazed how many different types of butterflies visit their glorious globe-shaped blooms. If you love flower arrangements, grow plenty of them to have enough for cutting material. Combine with other late-season blooms, or go minimalist with a bold single-species arrangement. The clear purple tones work with so many other plants. Give them an evergreen backdrop, or add to a cheery hodge-podge in a Cottage Garden. You will be thrilled with their high impact. You'll also really like their waterwise, exceptionally low-maintenance performance. These make the perfect, light-hearted gift plant for foodies and fashionistas, as well. Plant them up in sleek little containers as a fabulous presentation. These red-hot Ornamental Onions will sell quickly. Please place your order for Medusa Allium today! How to Use Medusa Allium in the Landscape These clump-forming plants can edge a garden bed from spring through fall. Use them at the forefront of your plantings as cool-toned, striking foliage plants. They'll dazzle you in their season of bloom. Partner them with contrasting yellow Coreopsis, Daylily and Black-Eyed Susan. Run a serpentine row of them down the length of any planting. Go modern with a narrow raised bed, enlivened with Flaming Carpet Sedum spilling over the side in front of Medusa Allium. They make outstanding additions to outdoor containers. As their flower stalks emerge, pop them into prominence on your balcony or deck. Keep them in lightweight resin pots to lift them here and there for seasonal shape and color. Fill in your bare spots, the easy way, with Medusa Allium. Many people across the country are growing their own vegetables and fruiting plants in Edible Gardens. Use pots of these nearby to draw pollinators to boost the yields of your "second season". As you might imagine, kids adore Allium. Tickle their fancy with a cute little row of them by their play structure. #ProPlantTips for Care Allium needs at least four hours of sunshine a day. Give them well-drained soil, or plant in containers if your soil stays soggy. Supply them with a moderate amount of water on a regular basis to establish your new Medusa Allium. Once they become established in your yard, they will tolerate drought conditions. Start each year fresh by trimming them back in late winter. Every few years, you can divide the clump using a sharp spade. Replant to expand the row, or gift a few to your jealous neighbor! Enjoy the fun side of gardening. Add Medusa Allium this season!
