Medium Lotus Bowl

Handcrafted by Cristina Hobbs, this kiln-fired bowl is formed from Navajo and speckled buff clay. The base opens into petal-like edges, giving the piece a sculptural, flower-inspired form. Finished in soft gray tones over a custom glaze, each bowl is individually shaped and fired, making it a one-of-a-kind work of art. Hobbs ceramics are a manifestation of dormant ideas that awaken as her hands work the clay. They serve as a reflection of self and the surrounding environment. Her ceramics are born from a love of quietude and the subtle language of form. They are a conversation between her hands and the yielding clay, shaped by an intuitive sense of flow and balance. Each piece carries the echoes of natural forms - the gentle curve of a petal, the rhythmic texture of a seashell, the rugged texture of a windswept landscape. She seeks to capture the essence of these inspirations, translating them into tactile objects that invite contemplation. The muted palette of soft grays and whites, with whispers of earthy tones, creates a sense of serenity, allowing the textures and subtle variations in light and shadow to speak. These are not merely vessels, but quiet meditations on the beauty of the imperfect, the organic, and the enduring power of simple forms.
