Medium Fir Mulch

Medium Fir Mulch is the go-to ground cover for homeowners and landscape pros who want a durable mulch that lasts between reapplications. Sized in larger 4–6" pieces, this fir mulch creates a strong protective layer around trees, shrubs, and flower beds. Sold by the cubic yard, you can order precisely what your project needs—there’s no minimum you have to meet. What sets Medium Fir Mulch apart is its chunky composition. Those larger pieces stay put in windy conditions and resist compaction, so your beds look tidy longer between maintenance sessions. This mulch also acts as a breathable barrier that suppresses weeds while still allowing air and water to reach roots. Long-lasting coverage thanks to 4–6" pieces that resist wind displacement Effective weed suppression when applied at an appropriate depth Improved soil moisture retention and temperature moderation around root zones Reduced maintenance and erosion on slopes and around base of trees Natural, rustic texture that enhances landscape aesthetics Ideal uses: around established trees and shrubs, on slopes where finer mulches wash away, around pathways and play areas where a sturdy, less-dispersive cover is beneficial. The chunky fir mulch also creates a defined bed edge, giving your landscape a finished look while protecting plant roots from temperature swings. Clear existing weeds and loosen the top layer of soil where you’ll apply mulch. Spread Medium Fir Mulch to a depth of 2–3 inches around plants, keeping a small clearance (about 2–3 inches) from trunks to prevent rot. Replenish as needed; larger pieces last longer between applications compared with finer mulches. Product details: Material: 100% fir wood Pieces size: 4–6 inches Sold by: cubic yard Minimum order: none — order exactly the cubic yards you require Why choose Medium Fir Mulch over finer alternatives? The larger pieces create a more stable, less dusty ground cover that stands up to foot traffic and wind, reducing maintenance and reapplication frequency. It also provides a natural, textured look that can complement native plants and evergreen landscapes. For projects where you need a robust barrier between soil and air, this fir mulch delivers better air pockets for root respiration and slower decomposition that keeps beds looking clean longer.
