MEDIDERMA® FERULAC PEEL PLUS

Indications for Use The FERULAC PEEL PLUS is a chemical peel designed for professional use to treat a range of skin conditions including photoaging, melasma, sun spots, and hyperpigmentation. The combination of ferulic acid, phloretin, and malic acid targets visible signs of aging and pigmentation irregularities by promoting skin cell renewal and offering antioxidant protection. It is suitable for individuals with moderate to severe sun damage, uneven skin tone, and those looking to address skin discoloration. Primary Use: Treatment of hyperpigmentation, photoaging, melasma, and sun spots. Target Audience: Ideal for patients with aging, damaged, or discolored skin, especially those with signs of sun damage or pigmentation issues. Dosage Information The FERULAC PEEL PLUS is used in a controlled, clinical setting, with application procedures tailored to the patient’s skin condition and tolerance. Typically, the peel is applied in a series of coats that allow the solution to penetrate the skin effectively. Concentration: The peel contains 8% ferulic acid, 5% phloretin, 5% malic acid, and 0.2% retinol. Frequency: The peel can be applied as part of a series of treatments spaced 2-4 weeks apart for optimal results. Application: Multiple coats are applied depending on skin type and severity of the condition. Each coat should be allowed to dry for 3 minutes before applying the next. Side Effects and Precautions As with all chemical peels, the FERULAC PEEL PLUS can cause side effects, particularly for individuals with sensitive skin. The level of irritation depends on the concentration of acids, skin type, and patient history with chemical peels. Common Side Effects: Redness, flakiness, and peeling of the skin. Temporary dryness and tightness following treatment. Increased sensitivity to sunlight. Precautions: Patients must apply broad-spectrum sunscreen daily after treatment to protect their skin from UV damage. Avoid use in individuals with hypersensitive skin, active infections, or other dermatological conditions without a doctor’s consultation. Patch testing should be performed prior to full application to avoid allergic reactions. Clinical Studies or Real-World Outcomes The FERULAC PEEL PLUS combines the potent antioxidant properties of ferulic acid with the deep exfoliating action of malic acid and phloretin. In clinical use, the peel has demonstrated significant improvement in skin tone, texture, and reduction of hyperpigmentation. Results Timeline: Patients typically notice visible results within 4-6 weeks of consistent use, with significant improvements in skin brightness, pigmentation, and texture by 12 weeks. Benefits: Reduction in the appearance of melasma, age spots, and sun damage. Smoother, more even-toned skin with fewer fine lines and wrinkles. Improvement in skin elasticity and firmness. Drug Interactions Chemical peels such as the FERULAC PEEL PLUS may interact with other topical treatments or medications, particularly those containing exfoliating agents like retinoids or benzoyl peroxide. Combining multiple treatments can increase irritation and exacerbate skin dryness. Avoid Combining With: Other chemical exfoliants, such as AHAs (alpha-hydroxy acids), BHAs (beta-hydroxy acids), and retinoids, without professional guidance. Safe Combination: Can be combined with hydrating moisturizers and antioxidant serums to support skin recovery and reduce irritation.
