McIntosh MC257

Elevate your home theater experience with the MC257 7-Channel Power Amplifier from McIntosh. Designed to deliver the unparalleled sound quality and power McIntosh is known for, the MC257 brings your favorite movies and new releases to life in ways you've never heard before. One of the standout features of the MC257 is its stunning TripleView™ Power Output Meter, which offers a fresh approach to power meter displays. Instead of three individual meters for each front channel, the TripleView houses three traditional mechanical meters in a single 15-inch wide enclosure. This innovative design retains the familiar motion and accuracy of McIntosh meters, while presenting a sleek, unified look. The glowing blue lighting can be turned off if desired, so it doesn’t distract from your movie or TV screen, but when on, it adds a captivating visual element to your system. Performance-wise, the MC257 has undergone several significant upgrades. Power output for the front left, center, and right channels has increased by 25%, now delivering 250 Watts per channel, while all 7 channels provide 200 Watts each. This power is available to either 4 or 8 Ohm speakers thanks to Dynamic Power Manager® (DPM) technology, which ensures efficient energy distribution regardless of the number of channels used. The amplifier’s filter capacity has been improved by 20%, resulting in an impressive 94% increase in dynamic headroom, which enhances both low-frequency performance and overall clarity in energetic soundtracks. The MC257 operates quietly and efficiently, thanks to five McIntosh Monogrammed Heatsinks™ that are connected to high-current output transistors. These heatsinks help dissipate heat without the need for noisy cooling fans, preserving the integrity of your audio experience. The amplifier also features a specially wound toroidal isolation power transformer, which minimizes unwanted noise. The updated gold-plated speaker terminals ensure a stable, corrosion-resistant connection for your speakers. Additionally, a power management system automatically shuts off the amplifier after a set time of inactivity, helping to conserve energy. McIntosh’s signature technologies, like Power Guard® and Sentry Monitor™, are also incorporated into the MC257 to ensure optimal performance and protection. Power Guard prevents speaker damage caused by clipping, while Sentry Monitor automatically disengages the output stage if the current exceeds safe limits, resetting once normal conditions are restored. The MC257 includes both balanced and unbalanced inputs, offering easy integration with your home theater processor. Versatile and powerful, the MC257 can be used in a variety of configurations. It’s ideal for a 7-channel home theater setup but can also be paired with the MI128 or MI254 amplifiers for larger multi-channel systems. Additionally, it can power a 5-channel setup with two of its channels dedicated to a second audio zone in your home. With its blend of cutting-edge features, rich McIntosh heritage, and powerful audio performance, the MC257 is the perfect amplifier to bring your home theater dreams to life.
