McIntosh Apple Tree

Sweet Apples, Now Home-Grown With its large size, crisp mild flavor, and glossy red and green skin, the McIntosh Apple is easily recognizable and one of the most widely-enjoyed varieties. Its flavorful, white, sweet flesh and distinctive, clean fragrance brings back childhood memories...and now you can have your own McIntosh Apple Tree, right in your backyard. Plus, our McIntosh Apple Trees produce heavily because we prune them consistently over time, to promote more branching and a stronger structure. They are fast-growing and hassle-free, with an easy harvest emerging in September at just the right time. Because two trees of the same apple variety can't be used in cross-pollination, we do recommend that you pair the McIntosh Apple with the Red Delicious, Gala, or any of our other apple varieties. But the process couldn't be easier. Simply plant your McIntosh Apple in full sun, with well-drained soil, and you will be rewarded with delicious, high-quality fruit. And whether you eat apples fresh out of hand or grated into a salad, baked in a pie or other dessert, or made into cider or applesauce, you'll have an all-around winner with our McIntosh Apple. So, why wait? Get your very own McIntosh today! Planting & Care 1. Planting: For best results, find a location with well-drained soil and full sun - about 6 hours of sunlight per day. Once you've selected a location, dig a hole that's twice the width of the root ball and just as deep. Then, place your tree, back fill and tamp down the soil, and water to settle the soil. Finally, mulch to retain moisture. *Tip: Make sure your mulch is not touching the base of the trunk. 2. Watering: Your apple will benefit from a regular watering each week, though you may have to water more during times of drought. If you're not sure when to water, simply check the soil down to a depth of about 2 or 3 inches - if it's dry here, it's time to water. 3. Pruning: Once your tree has become established and is starting to bear fruit, it will need some periodic, moderate pruning. Only prune the tree during times of dormancy, making sure to remove any vigorous, upright stems and weak, damaged or dead branches.
