Umpqua Mayfly Cripple

The Umpqua Mayfly Cripple is a crucial dry fly pattern specifically designed to imitate a mayfly that has failed to fully emerge from its nymphal shuck and is trapped in the surface film. This vulnerable, half-in/half-out presentation is often what ultra-selective trout key in on during heavy mayfly hatches like Blue-Winged Olives, PMDs, or Green Drakes. It is typically fished dead-drift on a floating line to mimic a struggling insect, making it an essential fly when fish are rising but refusing healthy-looking duns.
