Maximum Controls - MEGATRON TANK Swing Gate Operator

Super Heavy-Duty Swing Gate Operator for Commercial and Industrial Applications The MAX Megatron Tank is a continuous-duty brushless 24V DC swing gate operator built for commercial and industrial applications where the Megatron line's standard capacity is not enough. It is rated for 4,500 lbs/10 ft or 3,000 lbs/30 ft, placing it in the range of ornamental iron, heavy timber, and large commercial and industrial swing gates that exceed the capacity of the 2200 HP PRO. The Size 100, 900:1 dual gear reduction cast iron gearbox and a brushless DC motor equivalent to a 2.5 HP AC motor handle the added load, while a 30 Amp toroid power supply provides the headroom required for this application. UL 325/991 compliant for Class I through Class IV, covering residential through guarded industrial applications, the Tank operates in temperatures from -4°F to 158°F (-20°C to +70°C) without a heater, including battery performance. The 3.25 in solid steel output shaft is held by a cast iron clamping system that slips under vehicle impact without a shear pin, protecting the operator and preserving limit switch positions. The brushless DC motor uses Hall Effect magnetic sensing to track over 5,000 rotational positions across 90 degrees of gate travel, feeding adaptive DSP-controlled ramp-up and ramp-down with instant stop and no overcoasting. Lightning protection covers 44 channels across all inputs, outputs, and loop connections, rated to 20 kV and 10 kA. A properly installed ground rod is required for lightning protection to function. Key Features Brushless 24V DC motor equivalent to 2.5 HP AC motor; rated for approximately 6 million cycles / 35,000 operating hours with no torque loss due to aging Size 100, 900:1 cast iron gearbox; bronze gears, synthetic oil bath, direct gear drive with no chains, belts, or pulleys; gearbox weight 120 lbs Gate capacity 4,500 lbs/10 ft or 3,000 lbs/30 ft; 16 selectable speed positions; 90-degree opening in 11.5 to 20 seconds 30 Amp toroid power supply; designed for the higher load demands of super heavy-duty gate applications 3.25 in solid steel output shaft with cast iron clamping system; slips under vehicle impact without shear pin replacement Magic Box low-voltage system (sold separately) powers the operator up to 500 ft from the AC source over two 24VDC wires, without battery dependency 44-channel lightning protection rated to 20 kV / 10 kA; properly installed ground rod required 12V, 7.0Ah AGM battery backup; approximately 200 cycles dependent on gate site; three selectable backup modes; Solar Ready module available Advanced Matrix III controller with USB OBD Black Box; logs 1,000 most recent events, downloadable as a .TXT file Security suite includes tamper alert relay, anti-tailgate loop management, gate disable, audible alarm, and lockable enclosure 14-gauge steel cover with gold zinc plating and powder coating; 1/4 in cold rolled steel frame, fully welded, gold zinc plated Optional Max Cloud App for remote control, user management, guest passes with time restrictions, and event log retrieval via cellular 2-year warranty on all components; 1-year warranty on battery Technical Specifications Manufacturer: Maximum Controls LLC Model: Megatron Tank Gate Type: Swing (single leaf) Motor: Brushless 24V DC with Hall Effect encoder; 2.5 HP AC motor equivalent; ~6 million cycles / 35,000 hours Gearbox: Size 100, 900:1 dual gear reduction; cast iron housing, bronze gears, synthetic oil bath; gearbox weight 120 lbs Gate Capacity: 4,500 lbs/10 ft or 3,000 lbs/30 ft Gate Speed: 90-degree opening in 11.5 to 20 seconds; 16 selectable speeds Output Shaft: 3.25 in solid steel with cast iron clamping system Frame: 1/4 in cold rolled steel, fully welded, gold zinc plated Cover: 14-gauge steel; gold zinc plated and powder coated Dimensions: 19.25 in W x 23 in D x 25 in H; arm height 22.5 in Shipping Weight: 323 lbs Input Power: Switchable 115VAC / 6A or 230VAC / 2A, single phase Power Supply: 30 Amp toroid with power management board Battery Backup: 12V, 7.0Ah AGM; approximately 200 cycles (dependent on gate site); three selectable backup modes Remote Power (Magic Box): Sold separately; 24VDC, 2-wire, up to 500 ft from AC source; no battery dependency Open Timer: Selectable 0 to 60 seconds; timer-off option Lightning Protection: 44 channels; 20 kV / 10 kA; ground rod required Operating Temperature: -4°F to 158°F (-20°C to +70°C) Event Log: 1,000 events; USB OBD port download as .TXT file Safety Compliance: UL 325/991 Class I, II, III, and IV; CSA approved Duty Cycle: Continuous Warranty: 2 years on components; 1 year on battery Condition: New Conclusion The Megatron Tank is designed for single swing gate applications where gate weight exceeds the capacity of the Megatron 2200 HP PRO. For gates under 2,500 lbs/15 ft, see the 2200 HP PRO. Dual swing gate installations require two units; the Gate Sync feature coordinates movement between paired operators. A properly installed ground rod is required for the 44-channel lightning protection system to function. Safety sensors required for UL 325 2018 compliance are not included and must be sourced separately. The Magic Box remote power accessory is sold separately and is rated for up to 500 ft on this model. Warranty coverage applies only to units purchased through authorized dealers.
