Maudie & Me

Author: Carol Livramento    This book tells then true story of Carol Livramento's thirty-year bond with her horse, Maudie-a relationship that began before Maudie was even born. Difficult, unpredictable, and deeply independent, Maudie challenged Carol at every step, forcing her to earn trust inch by inch. Together they shared adventures that were often chaotic sometimes dangerous, and always unforgettable experiences that will make readers laugh, cry, and better understand horses and their behavior. From feeling the unborn foal kick during a pregnancy check to facing Maudie's death three decades later, readers follow their journey through trailering battles, riding mishaps, mock fox hunts gone wrong, and wild rides across Sonoma County. They gallop fair tracks, explore neighborhoods and parks, survive a fall into a tide pool at Point Reyes, and spend years training, jumping, and growing older together. As Maudie ages and her health declines, Carol's devotion never wavers. When Maudie reaches thirty and can no longer be helped, Carol must make the heartbreaking decision to let her go. Eighteen months later, a dream brings comfort and hope, as Carol knows her beloved horse is waiting for her-and that they will meet again. Softcover: ‎ 122 pages Size: ‎ 6 x 9 inches
