Mastery Coding Gamer Math 2 Grades: 5-8 Number of Students: Up to 99, 250, or Unlimited Number of Lessons: 7 Units Hours of Content: 30   Highlights: Use today’s most popular video games to boost engagement and math scores. Teach 6-8th grade aligned math concepts with fun video-based curriculum. GamerMath™ provides a one-of-a-kind, engaging curriculum that uses gaming and esports as a vehicle for standards-based math instruction. This video-based curriculum ties math concepts like ratios, percentages, statistics, and geometry to popular video game titles like FIFA, Rocket League, Minecraft and others to put math into a context that students understand.   Main Features: A 30-hour standards-based math curriculum Comprehensive data and reporting Into-Through-Beyond instructional methodology A gradual release of responsibility framework Scope and Sequence curriculum map Professional development and ongoing support   5 Core Principles of GamerMath 1. Culturally Responsive Teaching Increase engagement by incorporating relevant cultural examples and context into math lessons. 2. Teach Conceptual Understanding Demonstrate why mathematical procedures work rather than rely on memorization. 3. Promote Comprehension Through Visual Representation Use gaming visuals to make math more exciting and to help students "see" the math. 4. Scaffolded Learning Breakdown complex concepts into smaller, more manageable steps and gradually increase the complexity. 5. Incorporating Real-World Applications Connect math to practical applications in everyday life to help them see the value of math.   Curriculum or Lesson Topics: Integers with FIFA Students learn about integers, number lines, and absolute values and how they relate to soccer. Ratios with Rocket League Students dive into ratios, unit rates, and percentages and how these concepts can be applied to Rocket League. The Number System with Mario Kart Students learn how to do basic arithmetic with decimal numbers and how this can be applied to situations in Mario Kart. Percentages with Super Smash Bros Students gain an understanding of percentages and how to use them to make good decisions in Super Smash Bros. Statistics and Probability with NBA2k Students learn the basics of statistics like how to find the average, range, and median in the context of basketball statistics. Geometry with Minecraft Students learn how to calculate the area, perimeter and volume of objects and spaces within the voxel environments of Minecraft.   Technical Requirements: Hardware: RAM: 4GB or more CPU: Pentium 5 or later Operating System: Chromebook: Chrome OS 100.0 or later Windows: 7, 8, 8.1, 10 or later Mac: OS X El Capitan 10.11 or later Linux: 64-bit Ubuntu 18.04+, Debian 10+, openSUSE 15.2+, or Fedora Linux 32+ Software Installed: Google Chrome Peripherals 13" or bigger display Full keyboard Three-button mouse with scroll wheel Headphone jack and headphones
