Mastery Coding Gamer Math 1 Grades: 3-5 Number of Students: Up to 99, 250, or Unlimited Number of Lessons: 5 Units Hours of Content: 30   Highlights: Use today’s most popular video games as a vehicle for standards-based math instruction and raise student scores. GamerMath™ provides a one-of-a-kind, engaging curriculum that uses gaming and esports as a vehicle for standards-based math instruction. This video-based curriculum ties math concepts like multiplication, fractions, lines and angles to popular video game titles like Pokémon, Madden, Fall Guys and others to put math into a context that students understand.   Main Features: A 30-hour Standards-based math curriculum Comprehensive data and reporting Into-Through-Beyond instructional methodology A gradual release of responsibility framework Scope and Sequence curriculum map Professional development and ongoing support   5 Core Principles of GamerMath 1. Culturally Responsive Teaching Increase engagement by incorporating relevant cultural examples and context into math lessons. 2. Teach Conceptual Understanding Demonstrate why mathematical procedures work rather than rely on memorization. 3. Promote Comprehension Through Visual Representation Use gaming visuals to make math more exciting and to help students "see" the math. 4. Scaffolded Learning Breakdown complex concepts into smaller, more manageable steps and gradually increase the complexity. 5. Incorporating Real-World Applications Connect math to practical applications in everyday life to help them see the value of math.   Curriculum or Lesson Topics: Addition and Subtraction with LEGO 2K Drive Students learn how to use comparison operators to find the bigger number, determine car stats based on perks and character level, decrease stats using specialized perks, and calculate race results using addition and subtraction. Lines and Angles with Madden Students learn about the different types of lines and angles through how they connect to football strategy. Multiplication and Division with Pokemon Students learn how to multiply whole numbers, calculate type resistances using fractions, determine final damage numbers through multi-step problems, and calculate final damage numbers with status effects. Fractions with Fall Guys Students learn how to use fractions to strategically navigate the Fall Guys game, including reducing and comparing fractions, determining jump distance and height, and applying their skills in gameplay. Time and Money with Clash Royale Students learn about units of time and money and how they apply to Clash Royale. They will explore conversions, mixed time units, units of money, savings, interest, profit, and how to apply these concepts to improve their gameplay.   Technical Requirements: Hardware: RAM: 4GB or more CPU: Pentium 5 or later Operating System: Chromebook: Chrome OS 100.0 or later Windows: 7, 8, 8.1, 10 or later Mac: OS X El Capitan 10.11 or later Linux: 64-bit Ubuntu 18.04+, Debian 10+, openSUSE 15.2+, or Fedora Linux 32+ Software Installed: Google Chrome Peripherals 13" or bigger display Full keyboard Three-button mouse with scroll wheel Headphone jack and headphones
