Marvel Sky Blue Sage

Marvel Sky Blue Meadow Sage (Salvia nemorosa 'Marvel Sky Blue')Marvel Sky Blue Meadow Sage brings clear, sky-blue flower spikes that cool down hot-color plantings and brighten sunny borders. It blooms strongly in spring and early summer, then can repeat with a simple trim, keeping beds looking fresh without extra effort. The compact, upright habit stays tidy and easy to place, so your design looks intentional even in smaller spaces. Pollinators work the blooms nonstop, adding movement and life right where you see it most. Distinctive FeaturesThis meadow sage is valued for large, showy spikes of light sky-blue flowers held above a neat mound of aromatic gray-green foliage. The Marvel series is known for strong flower presence on a compact plant, and this lighter-blue selection offers a softer, cleaner look than typical purple salvias. Flowering peaks from spring into early summer, and shearing after the first flush can encourage additional bloom. Mature size is typically 14 to 16 inches tall and 12 to 14 inches wide. Border Structure: Use in the front to middle of borders to add clean vertical lines and keep mixed plantings from looking flat. Mass Planting: Repeat in drifts for a unified band of cool blue that ties planting areas together. Pollinator Gardens: Include where you want steady bee and butterfly activity during peak bloom. Containers: Grow in pots for a tidy, upright accent that stays compact and easy to manage. Low Maintenance Care Shearing: Shear back after the first heavy bloom to encourage rebloom and keep the clump tight and tidy. Deadheading: Remove spent spikes as needed to extend flowering and maintain a clean look. Watering: Deep water during extended drought, especially in the first season and in containers. Fertilizing: Feed lightly in spring, since overly rich soil can soften growth and reduce flowering. Spring Cleanup: Cut back old stems in early spring to make room for clean new growth.
