Martin Luther

Martin Luther: The Monk Who Sparked a Reformation Five hundred years ago, a humble monk named Martin Luther nailed ninety-five questions to a church door in Wittenberg, Germany. He simply wanted to start a discussion about sin and repentance—but his words shook a nation, then spread across an entire continent. Those questions would change the course of the church and world history forever. In this exciting biography, young readers will follow Luther on his quest for peace with God. They’ll watch him stand fearlessly for the truth of Scripture, even when powerful rulers opposed him. They’ll also get a glimpse into his family life, his writings, and the many ways God used him to reform the church. Above all, they’ll learn about Luther’s greatest legacy: his bold and joyful proclamation that salvation is a free gift of God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Inspiring, informative, and beautifully told—this is the story of a man whose courage still echoes today. Endorsements “Carr leads readers into the world in which Martin Luther grew up and then served the church and his society with sensitivity to the times and places where his life unfolded. The adventure of bringing the gospel to his people and the drama of his testimony to the truth come alive as we follow his footsteps into the heart of the German government, when he stood up to an emperor, and into his home and the joys he had in raising his family. An excellent introduction to the life of the great Reformer.” —Robert Kolb, professor of systematic theology, Concordia Seminary, St. Louis “I am a big fan of both Martin Luther and Simonetta Carr, so this book is a dream come true, an author-subject marriage made in heaven. Simonetta beautifully captures both the life and the key thoughts of Dr. Martin and does so in a manner which is fast-paced and exciting. Parents will love reading this book to their children, and children will love reading it for themselves.” —Carl Trueman, Professor of Biblical and Religious Studies at Grove City College, in Grove City, PA  About the Author   Simonetta Car was born in Italy and has lived and worked in different cultures.
