MARINE COATING

Your boat faces conditions that would destroy a standard automotive coating in a season — constant UV exposure, saltwater, freshwater minerals, algae, oxidation, and the relentless abrasion of water at speed. Marine Coating is engineered specifically for these conditions, delivering a professional-grade ceramic barrier that protects gelcoat, fiberglass, painted surfaces, and metal fittings from the full spectrum of marine environmental damage. At Chicago Jax Wax, we developed the Cap'n Jax marine line because boat owners deserve the same level of protection that car enthusiasts have had access to for years. Marine Coating bonds to your hull and topside surfaces at a molecular level, creating a hydrophobic, UV-resistant shell that makes every future wash easier, keeps the hull cleaner between outings, and preserves the deep gloss of your gelcoat for seasons to come. What It Protects Against UV oxidation — the #1 cause of gelcoat fading, chalking, and color loss on boats Saltwater & mineral deposits — hydrophobic surface causes water to sheet off rather than dry and leave deposits Algae & biological growth — the slick coated surface is harder for algae and marine growth to adhere to Waterline staining — protects the hull at the waterline where staining is most aggressive Abrasion & surface scratches — adds a hard, durable layer over gelcoat and paint Key Benefits Marine-specific ceramic formula — engineered for the UV intensity and chemical exposure of the marine environment Long-lasting protection — one application protects for a full season or more Deep, wet-look gloss — enhances the color and depth of gelcoat and painted surfaces Easy maintenance — coated surfaces clean faster and stay cleaner between washes How to Apply Wash the boat thoroughly with Boat Wash and allow to dry completely Correct any oxidation or surface defects with Cap'n Cut and Cap'n Polish before coating Apply Marine Coating to the included applicator pad and work into the surface in overlapping strokes, one section at a time Allow to flash (1–2 minutes) until slightly tacky Buff off with a clean microfiber towel Allow to cure for 2–4 hours before water exposure Pro tip: Apply Marine Coating at the beginning of the season after a thorough wash and polish. A second coat applied 24 hours after the first dramatically increases durability and gloss depth.
