Mares revueltos

Mares revueltos (Environmental Series), 1990 Juan Antonio Guirado (1932–2010) Mares revueltos 1990 Oil on paper 50 x 65 cm / 19 2/3 x 25 2/3 in Catalog Number: JAG/P 69 – INTRA LAND 01 Location: Los Angeles, USA Framing: Unframed Description A significant work from Guirado’s Intrarealist exploration of environmental instability and transformation, Mares revueltos presents the natural world as a state of force rather than a fixed image. The composition evokes turbulent waters, yet resists literal interpretation, dissolving into layers of movement, energy, and fragmentation. This work reflects the artist’s exploration of the relationship between external environment and internal experience, where landscape becomes a psychological and emotional field. Its dynamic structure and atmospheric depth resonate strongly with contemporary concerns around climate, instability, and the shifting balance between nature and human presence.
