March Madness

The early-March Milky Way streams over the Yellowstone River and Absaroka Beartooth Mountains in SW Montana.  This view is one of my favorite overlooks, in the heart of Paradise Valley, where the Yellowstone meanders through a giant oxbow. I've photographed it during many different seasons, and am still drawn to it. On this very early morning, the temperature dropped to -13, but lengthening days and more sunlight had recently opened the river for the first time in three months. It was full of slush ice, sliding downstream with a gentle hiss, and several times I heard barred owls calling from the cottonwoods on the opposite bank.  This is a 2:1 panorama offered in several sizes as a photographic print on fine paper and also as ready-to-hang aluminum art. Each is signed and numbered.
