Marcel Bureau

The Marcel Bureau is a sculptural storage piece designed by Robin and Stephen Alesch for Marcel, the restaurant created by Roman and Williams in partnership with Sotheby’s, located within the historic Breuer Building. Inspired by the building's iconic facade, the bureau translates faceted geometry into carved wood planes that form its drawer fronts, creating a rhythmic interplay of light and shadow. Strong architectural proportions balance solidity with refinement. The dimensional wood front reveals subtle shifts in depth, recalling the bold relief of Brutalist architecture while maintaining the warmth and tactility of natural hardwood. The result is a piece that feels both monumental and intimate. The bureau is suited to residential and hospitality environments alike. Drawer storage is carefully considered to support both utility and clarity of form. Each piece is individually crafted in sustainably sourced hardwoods and finished by hand. Natural variations in grain, tone, and texture are inherent to the material and contribute to the singular character of every work. This piece is made to order. Lead time is approximately 12 - 14 weeks.
