Manzanillo Olive Tree

Twisting Trees Pack a Fruitful Punch Exceptionally hardy in hot conditions and nutrient-poor soil, the Manzanillo Olive Tree is a must have for all warm climates. Originating from the rocky terrain of Spain, it is well adapted to harsh sun and periods of drought. One of the most beautiful features of the Manzanillo Olive Tree is its twisting trunk. As it grows, you'll find this tree gives your space a unique look and feel, distinctly different than any others. And the best part? Whether it's planted as a standout piece on its own or dotting the landscape in an orchard row, this tree will produce a harvest of delicious olives in the fall. When it is not producing olives, it offers small, delicate white flowers to admire in the summertime, with silvery-green evergreen foliage year-round. Not one to stay solo, the Manzanillo Olive Tree reminds us of the power of partnership - and while it's self-fertile, it will produce more fruit when planted next to another Olive Tree. And did you know? The olives produced from this tree are #1 for olive oil production! Don't miss out - bring the essence of Spain home with a Manzanillo Olive Tree. Get yours today! Planting & Care 1. Planting: Early Fall or late Spring is best to plant your new Manzanilla olive tree. Choose a location with plentiful sunlight and ample soil drainage. Monitor any soil areas that collect excess water or become too boggy, as these are not ideal conditions for your new olive tree. Dig a hole the depth of your tree’s container. Place your tree in the hole, leaving the roots undisturbed. Backfill soil in and around your new tree. Water generously upon first planting. 2. Watering: Your young tree may need more water applications from you as it is growing and rooting. Thereafter, you can water only in high drought conditions. 3. Pruning: Prune only the exterior, cross cutting branches that block light to the central portion of the tree. It is best to wait to do so after 2-4 years of growth.
