Description Light/Soil/Water Hardiness A large Mangave forming a refined rosette of deep red leaves. The intense coloration develops in full sun and makes this variety one of the most visually striking in the Mangave collection. Leaves are broad, arching, and softer than traditional agave while maintaining excellent drought tolerance. Hybrid bred from Agave (native to Mexico and southwestern U.S.) and Manfreda (native to North America), developed in modern U.S. cultivation for bold ornamental coloration. Produces a tall spike with tubular blooms when mature. Flowering is infrequent. The rosette may decline after flowering but typically produces offsets beforehand. Intense red foliage that deepens with sun exposure. Large architectural rosette creates a dramatic focal point. Strong visual impact in containers, borders, and xeriscape gardens. Faster-growing than agave with safer, less sharp leaves. Full sun preferred; at least 6 hours of direct sunlight for best red coloration Low water; allow soil to dry completely between waterings; very drought-tolerant once established Fast-draining cactus/succulent mix; avoid water-retentive soils Thrives in 15°C – 32°C (59°F – 90°F); protect from temperatures below -3°C (26°F) Moderate to fast-growing; forms a large architectural rosette over time USDA Zones 9–11; protect from frost and hard freezes
