Expander mandrels

Description Our expander mandrels are available in 0.0005″ increments, providing precision for every reloading need. The primary function of an expander mandrel is to ensure a precise and consistent inner diameter of the case neck. This precision is crucial as it directly impacts the bullet’s fit and alignment with the firearm’s barrel, contributing significantly to shooting accuracy and consistency. How It Works During the reloading process, the case is placed onto the expander mandrel, and the reloading press is activated. As the press applies downward force, the mandrel gently pushes against the inner walls of the case neck, expanding it in a controlled and precise manner. This ensures that the case neck maintains a uniform and consistent inner diameter throughout the expansion process. Once expanded, the case is ready to be filled with powder and fitted with a bullet. The expanded case neck facilitates easy bullet insertion and ensures a secure grip on the bullet without causing excessive tension or looseness. This meticulous process allows precision ammunition reloaders to achieve consistent results in bullet seating depth, bullet release, and overall shooting performance. Material and Coating Our expander mandrels are crafted from high-quality 17-4 Series Stainless Steel and are coated with Armoloy. This combination ensures durability and optimal performance during repeated use. Benefits of Armoloy Coating Wear Resistance: The Armoloy coating significantly enhances surface hardness, improving resistance to wear, abrasion, and friction. This extends the service life of the mandrels and reduces the need for frequent replacements. Low Friction: The smooth and lubricious nature of the Armoloy coating minimizes friction between moving parts, resulting in smoother operation, reduced heat generation, and improved overall efficiency. Chemical Resistance: Armoloy-coated surfaces are highly resistant to various chemicals, solvents, and cleaning agents, ensuring longevity and maintaining performance integrity. Compatibility Our expander mandrels are compatible with most 21st Century expander mandrel dies. However, please note that sizes .336 and .373 are exclusively compatible with our 33XC die. This ensures optimal performance and precision for these specific sizes. Why Choose Our Expander Mandrels Precision: Available in fine 0.0005″ increments for exact sizing. Durability: Made from 17-4 Series Stainless Steel with Armoloy coating for long-lasting use. Compatibility: Works seamlessly with a wide range of 21st Century expander mandrel dies, with specific compatibility for sizes .336 and .373 using our 33XC die. Performance: Ensures consistent inner diameters for improved bullet fit, alignment, and overall shooting accuracy. Try our expander mandrel dies.  Our dies are cartridge family specific and size the base of the case as you expand the necks.  https://www.shootsmallgroups.com/product/expanding-mandrel-dies/
