This authentic Woolly Mammoth hair specimen is radiocarbon-dated to 19,551 years old. It comes from a well-preserved Woolly Mammoth discovered near the Indigirka River in Siberia, Russia - one of the permafrost-preserved specimens that have allowed scientists to study mammoth soft tissue, diet, genetics, and behavior in extraordinary detail. A full-grown Woolly Mammoth stood 10 to 12 feet at the shoulder with shaggy hair that provided a substantial advantage in the struggle to stay warm on the Pleistocene steppe. Hair From a Mammoth - Preserved for 19,551 Years This is not a cast.
