But be careful - this majestic pup in the snow just might steal your heart for hours as you blissfully bring her majestic portrait to life, one step at a time. Donna Mulley expertly guides you through simple techniques for abstract, snowy backgrounds, long multi-colored animal fur and expressive eyes. Treat yourself for being such a good boy or girl this year; you absolutely deserve it! Try a new surface! Pastelmat is all the rage these days, and you'll soon see why. The forgiving surface allows you create silky soft fur and makes easy work of the background. What you'll learn: Water Underpainting: Blending dry Caran d'Ache Aquarelle pencils with water will form the first layers of color and add more depth and volume to your finished drawing. You'll then use Faber-Castell pencils to add detail on top of the underpainted surface. Drawing on Pastelmat: The soft blue background chosen for this project will allow the warm and cool colors of the dog's fur to jump off the page - and it saves you time on the abstract snowy background! Pastelmat's smooth surface can also handle layer after layer to get details like the eyes and nose just right. Realistic Fur: Donna helps you pay attention to the shape and direction of the malamute's dense fur as your drawing and notice patterns in texture and lighting to create a luxurious coat. About In-Depth Tutorials: Created by master colored pencil artists, each In-Depth tutorial features 30+ steps and focuses on teaching you why and not just how the artist applies their technique. No book or video comes close to the amount of instruction in an In-Depth tutorial. Art instruction books typically contain 4-6 steps per demo. That just scratches the surface! With large images and 30 or more steps, In-Depth tutorials truly show you exactly how the artist works, making it easy to truly learn new colored pencil techniques and achieve success. Note: Drawing paper and colored pencils not included. See list of supplies needed in the images. Polychromos pencil name changes can be found here.  Release Date: December 2017. Draw... Frame...
