Malachite green

Malachite Green is an external antiparasitic and antifungal treatment commonly used in freshwater aquariums. It is primarily used to treat Ich (Ichthyophthirius multifiliis/white spot disease) and external fungal infections, including fungal growth on fish and eggs. Malachite Green may also be used against certain other external protozoan parasites. It is not an antibacterial medication and should not be used to treat bacterial infections. Plants: Do not use directly in planted aquariums. Malachite Green may be harmful to live aquatic plants. When possible, treat affected fish in a separate quarantine/hospital aquarium. Scaleless Fish: Use with extreme caution in scaleless or sensitive fish, including Loaches, Corydoras, and other scaleless or thin-scaled species. These fish may be more sensitive to Malachite Green and require reduced doses or an alternative treatment. Invertebrates: Avoid use in aquariums containing shrimp, snails, and other sensitive invertebrates, as Malachite Green may be toxic to them. Biological Filtration: Malachite Green can affect beneficial bacteria under certain conditions. Monitor ammonia and nitrite during treatment, particularly in quarantine systems. Sensitive Fish: Use caution with young, newly imported, stressed, or weakened fish. Monitor fish closely during treatment and discontinue treatment if signs of severe stress occur.
