Maine State Flag (1901–1909) Poster

Reviving History: The Resurgence of Interest in Maine's 1901-1909 State Flag Design From 1901 to 1909, the flag of the U.S. state of Maine was the inaugural official state flag apart from its militia emblem. The historical Maine Flag during 1901–1909 represents a distinctive era in Maine's history, reflecting the state's evolving identity at the turn of the 20th century. This flag showcased Maine's maritime heritage and industrial prowess, featuring a unique design with a cream field, a blue star, and a stylized pine tree. Raised from 1901 to 1909, it symbolized the state's progress while paying homage to its natural resources and nautical traditions. The historical Maine Flag of this period serves as a visual testament to the state's commitment to innovation and deep-rooted connection to its coastal origins, encapsulating a transformative period in Maine's journey toward modernity. This flag was subsequently succeeded by a conventional military-style design in 1909. Recently, the flag has experienced a resurgence in attention, propelled by the advocacy of local Maine vexillologists seeking its reinstatement and by enterprises offering reproductions of the flag. An emerging movement is actively campaigning to revive this historical flag design in Maine. This satin poster brings the artwork to life on top-tier quality 210 gsm satin paper.
