It does have some operational quirks, mind you—of exactly the sort you’d expect from a more boutique brand. If I were tasked with building a wish list for the inevitable MaiA DS4, I’d ask for a more functional and intuitively designed remote control, direct access to inputs, some way of dimming the front-panel LEDs, and a proofreader for the silk-screening on the back panel. Oh, and if I’m feeling really greedy, some neodymium magnets for the side panels to make them a little grippier." - Dennis Burger   Pro-Ject MaiA DS3 Integrated Amplifier - Read More "Traditional audiophiles might be tempted to discount Pro-Ject electronics, if only because the brand prioritises a compact build. But beefier Class D amplification and smart engineering has elevated the versatile MaiA DS concept into a third-generation 'box' that's plays with authority and just enough finesse. Treating even Bluetooth streaming with respect, this is Pro-Ject's vision of 'hi-fi for the masses'. " - Jamie Biesemans   Pro-Ject MaiA DS3 Integrated Amplifier Review - Read More "As I mentioned earlier, if you are looking for an integrated amplifier priced around $1500, you have a plethora of options. The beauty of the Pro-Ject MaiA DS3 is that it includes all the inputs, outputs, and functions of a full-sized integrated amplifier in a compact package. Combine it with speakers such as the ATC SC7 III, or Sound Artist LS3/5a and perhaps a Monoprice SW-12 subwoofer, and you will have a near reference-quality system for far less than estate-level cost. The MaiA DS3’s inclusion of both moving magnet and a moving coil cartridge support means that when you upgrade your turntable’s cartridge from moving magnet to moving coil you won’t be forced to buy an external phono preamplifier to accommodate the upgrade. There’s an awful lot to like in a small box priced at an aspirational level here.  " - Steven Stone   Pro-Ject MaiA S3 Integrated Amplifier Review - Read More "No question about it; the Pro-Ject MaiA S3 is going to appeal to lots of people. Despite being tiny, it is hugely versatile, sounds excellent, runs cool, and sells for a very reasonable price. For those just wanting a good, small, simple, fuss-free amplifier, the MaiA S3 will be perfect; just the ticket. It is a terrific value, then. While you might find an amplifier that sonically out-points it in areas such as richness and warmth, anything significantly better is likely to be much bigger and heavier. The choice, my audiophile friends, is yours!
