The Maharaja Bed is based on a Wisteria icon. Hand-made with inlay work this is an exquisite example of workmanship that dates back to the Delhi Sultanate and the 14th century. The bed has fine details and workmen painstakingly do the in-lay work by hand to a specific design - each piece is destined to be an heirloom. The perfect bed for a royal which is now available more universally. Truly a design that is magnificent and a wonder to hold. Wisteria products are primarily handmade at small artisanal facilities in a traditional manner, in small batch quantities, or often as an individually made-to-order item if it is a part of our custom or bespoke program. Naturally - this means products may have variations between two items that may have been made in a separate batch or at a different time. Thus, minor imperfections are part of the patina for these products. We want to share this with you so that you know what to expect and be proud of the uniqueness of your purchase. This is quintessential Wisteria and very much part of the DNA of us and our products. Several pieces in the line are also finished in a distressed or rustic style, and this style lends itself to showing off wood imperfections, distinct wood grains, and notches more readily than what a typical stain or finish would disguise.
