Authenticated by Beckett Authentication Services, this is a display piece of exceptional presence for any Marvel, X-Men, or film memorabilia collection. Magneto's helmet — the most iconic headgear in comic book cinema Magneto's crimson helmet is one of the most recognizable props in the history of comic book cinema — a piece of design so striking and so inseparable from the character's identity that it has become symbolic in its own right. In the X-Men films, the helmet serves as Erik Lensherr's shield against the telepathic abilities of his oldest friend and greatest adversary, Professor Charles Xavier — a physical barrier between two men who love each other and cannot agree on the fate of the world. Director Bryan Singer deliberately redesigned the helmet from its comics counterpart to create something more visually powerful, and the result — swept back, architectural, and commanding — perfectly captures the authority and menace of the character who wears it. The actual production prop used in filming was constructed in two pieces fastened by Velcro and magnetic snaps. McKellen himself found the original version so uncomfortable that it was redesigned before production of X2 with his comfort specifically in mind — a detail that adds a personal, behind-the-scenes dimension to any replica of this iconic piece. Sir Ian McKellen — one of the great actors of his generation Sir Ian McKellen is widely regarded as one of the finest actors of the 20th and 21st centuries — a career Royal Shakespeare Company veteran, Tony Award winner, BAFTA Award winner, and two-time Academy Award nominee whose range spans Shakespeare to blockbuster cinema without ever compromising his extraordinary depth. He portrayed Magneto — Erik Lehnsherr, a Jewish Holocaust survivor whose persecution has shaped him into the mutant world's most formidable and morally complex antagonist — across four X-Men films: X-Men (2000), X2 (2003), X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), and X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014). Simultaneously, McKellen portrayed Gandalf the Grey across six Peter Jackson films — making him the only actor in cinema history to have played two of the most celebrated genre characters of the modern era.
