Weatherley Mirror Natural Lampakanay Rope

The Weatherley Mirror in Natural Lampakanay Rope by Made Goods features a frame wrapped around the glass in bands of lampakanay, a plant native to Philippine marshes, woven by hand into a texture that catches light differently depending on the hour and angle of view. The rope has weight and presence without heaviness, the kind of material that reads as both refined and rooted in place. Made Goods sources the lampakanay sustainably, working with artisans who have refined this weaving over generations. The craft shows in the consistency of the wrap, the way each strand sits flush against its neighbor, the slight irregularities that confirm human hands shaped it. There is no pretense here, only the honest expression of material and skill. The mirror hangs as a quiet anchor in a room. Against a plaster wall or above a console, it introduces warmth through texture without competing for attention. The natural tone reads as neutral but alive, shifting between cream and pale gold depending on what surrounds it.  The frame's depth means it casts a subtle shadow, giving the mirror a sculptural quality that flat frames cannot achieve. This is the kind of piece that settles into a space and improves it over time, becoming more essential as you live with it. The lampakanay softens the geometry of the glass, making the mirror feel less like a functional object and more like an intentional gesture toward craft and material honesty.
