Opal Tray Set Whitewashed Rattan

The Opal Tray Set in Whitewashed Rattan by Made Goods arrive as a pair, each one a study in restraint. Whitewashed rattan catches light differently depending on the angle and time of day, shifting between warm cream and soft gray. The material itself feels substantial without weight, a quality that comes from the tightness of the weave.  Running your hand along the edge reveals the scalloped detail, a gentle undulation that prevents the form from reading as purely utilitarian. These trays live best where they can be seen. Nested on a console table, they create visual rhythm without demanding attention. The scale works equally well holding a collection of objects on a coffee table or arranged vertically on open shelving, where the woven texture becomes part of the composition. The whitewashed finish reads as neutral enough to anchor a room while the natural fiber brings warmth that painted or lacquered surfaces cannot. What distinguishes this set is the proportion between the tray's depth and its rim. The scalloped edge frames whatever sits within without overwhelming it, whether that's a stack of books, a candle, or simply air. The rattan's open weave allows light to pass through, creating soft shadows on the surface below. This quality of transparency, unusual in a tray, gives the pieces an almost architectural presence. Made Goods has designed these for rooms where materials matter and restraint is valued. They function as both object and backdrop, equally comfortable in a minimalist setting or among layered, collected interiors. *Sold as a set of 2.
