Marc-Antoine Corticchiato drew on this recipe from his countless stays in Madagascar, moving between the bush and its cultures — remembering a drink once handed to him by the daughter of a Malagasy partner, made from an impressive bundle of vanilla pods long ripened in the sun and macerated for weeks in aged rum. Madagascar expresses vanilla in three natural extracts — tincture, CO2 extract, and absolute — unfolding balsamic, animalic aromas that evoke the fatty richness of the pod, enriched with tones of wood, leather, hay, and tobacco. Peppercorns, cloves, and cinnamon sticks join the animal depth of cacao beans, while freshly grated coconut lifts the amber elixir with a milky brightness. Rich in balms, oils, and resins, the formula calls on a nearly vanished artisanal know-how, and a rare, generous maceration that lets every ingredient fully express itself.
