Lynfred Peach

Lynfred Peach is a sweet fruit wine made from 100% Haven peaches, available in a standard 750ml bottle from Illinois' oldest continually operating winery. What distinguishes this expression is its whole-fruit production method, requiring an average of three to five pounds of peaches per bottle — a ratio that delivers unmistakable fresh-fruit intensity rather than diluted flavoring. Quick Facts: Residual Sugar: 8.0%  |  Origin: Roselle, Illinois  |  Style: Sweet Fruit Wine  |  Producer: Lynfred Winery Production & Heritage Lynfred Winery, founded in Roselle, Illinois, holds the distinction of being the state's oldest and largest continually operating family winery. The Peach wine is produced exclusively from Haven peaches grown in Covert, Michigan — a dark red and golden variety prized by bakers for its exceptional sweetness and widely regarded as a top-tier dessert peach. Each bottle begins with whole fruit rather than concentrate or flavoring extracts, with three to five pounds of peaches going into every 750ml, yielding a residual sugar level of 8.0% that places it firmly in the sweet wine category. Tasting Notes Aroma: The nose opens with ripe canned peaches, followed by layers of mango and fresh pear. The overall impression is of a fruit bowl at peak ripeness — sweet, inviting, and uncomplicated. Taste: The entry is immediate and lush, recalling a glass of fresh-pressed peach juice. At mid-palate, tropical fruit punch notes emerge alongside the dominant stone fruit, while dried peach character adds a hint of concentration. The body sits at a comfortable medium weight, carrying sweetness without crossing into cloying territory. Finish: Smooth and inviting, with lingering fruity sweetness that fades gradually. The aftertaste recalls ripe peach skin and a trace of tropical warmth. How to Drink Lynfred Peach Serve well chilled, ideally between 40–45°F, to let the natural peach character shine while keeping the sweetness in balance. On a warm afternoon, pour it over ice for a refreshing, casual sipper. Bellini: Use Lynfred Peach in place of traditional peach purée with sparkling wine for a Midwest-rooted take on the classic. Peach Sangria: The whole-fruit intensity stands up beautifully alongside fresh-cut citrus, berries, and a splash of brandy. Fuzzy Navel Spritz: Combine with a measure of orange juice and top with club soda for a low-proof, fruit-driven warm-weather cocktail.
