Luscious Pear

LUSCIOUS PEAR This grafted pear tree produces a sweet, juicy pear with excellent flavor. Luscious Pears have a drop time from early September to early October. It produces small to medium-sized pears and has yellow-greenish skin with red blush. This pear has good resistance to fireblight in a no-spray situation. This tree has good vigor and produces annually, dropping from early September through the beginning of October with a medium-sized European pear. This pear tree is precocious and begins producing at a young age. Luscious Pear will reach a mature height of 20’+. Suitable for plant hardiness zones 4b-7. The Luscious Pear is made by using plant tissue from the original tree and attaching it to the new roots. This essentially gives you an identical tree to the one you see in the picture and description. TREE SIZE 2-yr 4-6′ (5/8”-3/4” dia.) These two-year-old trees will have an extensive root system and will have multiple branches with a diameter of 5/8” and greater. We will prune the trees back to a shipping height of 66″ with the roots, as our largest box is 66 “x 14″ x 15” and will hold 14 select two-year-old trees. Free local pick-up is available in the surrounding states of Pennsylvania. STANDARD ROOTSTOCK Luscious pear is grafted to Pyrus Betulifolia. This vigorous, standard-sized seedling rootstock will reach a mature height of 20′-30′. Therefore, it will produce more fruit on the tree and take up less real estate. This root is adaptable to acidic soils, poor soil conditions, sandy soils, and soil with low fertility. As a result, it will be suitable for more marginal areas that were wooded and are now food plots, reclaimed land, shale mountain soil, dryer uplands, and sandy soils. With that said, this rootstock will perform exceptionally well when planted in appropriate pH and nutrient-rich soils! You should perform a soil test and make the correct amendments to your soil for optimal growth and fruit production, as low fertility will cause a delay in fruit production. The roots will anchor well, producing a solid and drought-tolerant tree because of the deep “real roots”. We are only grafting onto the most vigorous standard rootstock. This rootstock is suitable for plant zones 4b – 8. PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS FOR LUSCIOUS PEARS Plant at least two different pear varieties near each other to ensure pollination. The varieties of grafted pears we have for sale will blossom and overlap each other, giving you excellent pollination. The Danville Kieffer pear tree is an excellent pollinator for both Asian and European varieties of pears. Plant all pear trees in moist, well-drained soil with a soil ph between 5.5 – 7.2 with adequate nutrient levels for optimal growth. The above soil conditions will provide the most growth and fruit production. Pears are one fruit tree that tolerates acidic soils with poor fertility. Luscious pears require at least 6 hours of sunlight for fruit production and growth. Space trees 20′ apart and use cages of at least 5′ to protect your trees. This will ensure your deer eat your fruit in a few years, not your trees this year.
