Luis Pablo: Alebrije Calligraphy Dog

This spectacular contemporary dog alebrije by master Oaxacan woodcarving artist Luis Pablo is one of his most elegant and inventive pieces, and it is absolutely delightful! The carving is angular and beautifully proportioned, with clean geometric lines that give the figure a thoroughly contemporary feel. The dog sits upright with head raised and mouth open wide, full of personality and expressive energy. The body language says everything: alert, joyful, completely alive. The design concept is so creative. Luis Pablo has covered the entire white body in a cascading alphabet of calligraphy letters in varying fonts, sizes, and orientations, and the result is surprisingly elegant. The letterforms become a pattern, the pattern becomes a texture, and the whole composition flows across the angular form with the confidence of a master graphic designer. It is witty, refined, and unlike anything else in the tradition. A wonderful detail not to miss: Luis Pablo's signature gold candle tag hangs from the dog's red collar, the personal mark he places on his work as a symbol of the light he wants to bring into every home. On this piece, it feels especially apt. A superb example of Luis Pablo at his most creative and joyful!  Read Luis Pablo's Story Origin: Oaxaca Dimensions: 11.5''Tall 11.5''Long 3.5''Wide
