Frequently Asked Questions: Q: Can I use the MASTER 4 with LED lights? A: The MASTER 4 is designed primarily for HID (High-Intensity Discharge) lighting systems like HPS and MH. While it may work with some high-wattage LED drivers, you should check the amperage requirements of your LEDs to ensure compatibility. If your LED lights collectively do not exceed 30 amps, it can work. Q: Does this controller come with a built-in timer? A: No, the MASTER 4 does not include a built-in timer. It comes with a 120V trigger cable that allows you to connect an external 120V timer (sold separately) for scheduling your lights. Q: Can I control fewer than 4 lights with this unit? A: Yes! You don't have to run all 4 outlets at once. You can use 1, 2, 3, or 4 lights depending on your grow setup, as long as you stay within the total amperage limit. Q: What type of timer should I use with the MASTER 4? A: Any reliable 120V timer capable of handling low amperage (since the timer is only activating the relay, not carrying the full lighting load). A basic 120V mechanical or digital timer will work perfectly. Q: Do I need an electrician to install the MASTER 4? A: It's highly recommended to have a certified electrician install the controller, especially if you're unfamiliar with electrical circuits, ballasts, or relay systems. Safety first! Q: Can the MASTER 4 be wall-mounted? A: Yes, the MASTER 4 is designed with a durable housing that can be safely mounted to a wall or a sturdy surface in your grow space. Q: Will using the MASTER 4 protect my timers from burning out? A: Yes! Because the MASTER 4 uses a relay to control your ballasts, the heavy electrical load bypasses your timer. This greatly extends the lifespan of your external timer and reduces the risk of failure.
