Lower Madison River - Winter Fly Box

Fish the Lower Madison like you know it — because now you do.   The Lower Madison River Winter Fly Box is hand-curated specifically for the conditions, hatches, and trout behavior you'll encounter on the Lower Madison from December through March. The Lower Madison stays fishable below Ennis Lake through winter. Clear, cold water and steady midge activity keep trout feeding in the deeper runs throughout the coldest months.   This box is built around the Lower Madison's winter hatch calendar — midges with occasional BWO activity on warmer days. Every fly was chosen with nymphing and midge fishing in deeper water in mind, giving you exactly what you need to match what the fish are eating at this time of year.   What's in the box: 36 flies total — 18 unique patterns, 2 of each — covering midge larvae, zebra midges, RS2s, and small BWO emergers. No filler. No patterns that don't belong on this river in this season.   Pro tip from the water: The stretch immediately below Ennis Lake stays open and productive all winter. Fish deep and slow — patience pays off on cold days.   Whether you're making your first trip to the Lower Madison or you fish it every season, this box gives you a proven starting lineup so you can spend more time fishing and less time digging through bins at the fly shop.   Includes a quality waterproof fly box. All flies are hand-tied to Bozeman FlyWorks standards — the same quality we'd put on our own lines.
