Low Openwork Wicker Basket - Brown

A chic French basket made from dark brown wicker, with low, openwork sides.  An attractive and useful place to corral remotes on the ottoman, gather stationary and papers on your desk, or use as a breadbasket on the table.   This is an authentic, traditional French basket, made entirely by hand in France.  Crafted with the finest of willow, its lightness and delicacy belie its strength; is is crafted to be functional as well as decorative. To create steamed willow rods, natural, brown dried willow is boiled for several hours. This releases the tannins and stains the willow bark a brown color. The bark remains on the willow. The rods are then dried outdoors. Steamed willow rods require soaking and mellowing to make pliable. With proper care, your wicker basket will have a very long life; dust and clean if necessary with soapy water and a soft brush, then rinse with clear water and air dry immediately.  Do not soak. 12" x 8.5" x 4"* Handmade from willow in France *Due to their handmade nature, sizes may vary slightly
