Loveblock 2023 Pinot Gris

Tasting Notes The 2023 Loveblock Pinot Gris is an organic, vegan-friendly white wine crafted by legendary winemaker Kim Crawford in New Zealand's Marlborough region, specifically from the alluvial silt and stony soils of the Triangle vineyard in Lower Dashwood. This 100% Pinot Gris expression pours a pale straw color with golden reflections, opening with a complex bouquet of rockmelon, Nashi pear, and citrus blossom anchored by subtle undertones of chamomile, green tea, and stony minerality. On the dry, medium-to-full-bodied palate, the wine delivers elegant flavors of white peach, Fuji apple, and prosciutto-wrapped melon. Its silky, rounded texture and subtle leesy complexity are masterfully balanced by a zippy, linear acidity, culminating in a long, lingering finish defined by a hint of flinty wet stone. To capture this distinct varietal elegance without excessive alcohol, the estate lets wild flowers and grasses grow between the rows so the vines must struggle, allowing the grapes to achieve perfect physiological ripeness at a lower sugar level. This wine's harmonious balance and bright acidity make it exceptionally versatile at the dinner table, starting with fresh seafood like seared scallops, ceviche, and marinated white fish. It also effortlessly cuts through the rich, aromatic heat of delicate Asian cuisine, acting as a flawless companion to a fragrant Thai green curry or a comforting bowl of crispy pork belly ramen. For poultry and meat courses, the wine highlights the savory notes in poached chicken with oriental herbs or a classic lemon-herb roasted chicken. Additionally, its stony mineral backbone pairs brilliantly with a fresh goat cheese salad, light young cheeses, or an aged Gouda served alongside sliced pears and toasted cashews. 750ml
