Love Me Tender

ROMERO BRITTO - LOVE ME TENDER Love me tender is a digital silkscreen print on canvas, limited edition, numbered and hand- signed by Romero Britto. The work is large: it measures 91.5 x 137 cm and has a vertical development. The entire surface of the canvas is occupied by two lovers tenderly wrapped in a warm hug, abandoned in each other's arms: their faces and closed eyes convey serenity, the same one feels when one feels protected and safe. The predominant tone is blue, but there is no lack of line play, dots and patterns to enliven the composition and the interlocking of the two figures. Love me tender is a quotation from the 1956 song of the same name by the legendary Elvis Presley, of whom Romero Britto is a great admirer. Reading the lyrics of the song, all the details that we find in Britto's work clearly emerge: two lovers promising each other eternal love and promising never to leave each other, locked in a heart-warming embrace. Once again Romero Britto succeeds in reinterpreting inspirations from the past in a completely original and personal key.
