Le Le Sourire (“The Smile”) was a French illustrated humor and satirical magazine that began at the end of the 19th century and, after a hiatus during World War I, became especially popular in the 1920s as a weekly publication aimed at a primarily male audience. It was noted for its vibrant, colorful cover art featuring elegant, flirtatious and pin-up style illustrations by artists like Georges Léonnec, Étienne Le Rallic and Suzanne Meunier, reflecting the playful, Art Deco spirit of the decade. These 1920s covers often showcased chic women, witty scenes, and stylish graphic design that captured the joie de vivre and visual culture of interwar Paris.
