Losmandy AZ-8 Counterweight System

Losmandy AZ-8 Counterweight System Balance your single-scope setup with confidence—precision-made for the AZ-8 Alt-Azimuth Mount. The Losmandy AZ-8 Counterweight System is a must-have accessory for AZ-8 owners who often mount a single telescope on one side of the dual-saddle head. While the AZ-8 excels at carrying two telescopes in perfect balance, single-scope setups can leave the opposite side of the mount unbalanced, which may cause unwanted flexure, stiffness, or strain on your slow-motion controls. Losmandy’s solution? A precision-machined counterweight bar and weight system designed specifically for the AZ-8. This kit mounts directly to the secondary saddle location, allowing you to dial in perfect balance when operating with a single OTA. Whether you’re using a heavy refractor, a large SCT, or simply prefer single-scope observing, the AZ-8 Counterweight System helps you maintain the smooth, controlled motion that makes the AZ-8 a joy to use. Key Features: Custom-Built for the AZ-8: Installs directly into the secondary saddle receiver—no adapters needed. Includes Counterweight Bar and Weight: Provides adjustable balance for single-scope configurations. Precision Machined: All-aluminum construction with stainless hardware ensures strength and durability. Protects Your Mount: Helps prevent uneven wear on slow-motion controls and bushings. Maintains AZ-8 Performance: Preserves the buttery-smooth azimuth and altitude motion the AZ-8 is known for. Observing Tip: If you’re setting up a large refractor, SCT, or binoviewer on just one side of your AZ-8, adding the counterweight system can dramatically improve your mount’s feel and responsiveness. It’s especially helpful when using slow-motion controls at high magnifications, where even minor balance issues can throw off your tracking. Final Thoughts: The Losmandy AZ-8 Counterweight System completes your mount’s versatility toolkit. Whether you're running dual telescopes or just your favorite single OTA, this accessory helps you get the most stable, enjoyable performance from your AZ-8. Like every Losmandy product, it’s built for a lifetime of observing.
