Lore | Experimental Sound Console

Lore is discontinued. Sage is an upgraded, consolidated and optimized version of Lore. Many of the extra features were trimmed to focus on this optimized spectral delay effect. The code is still available for you to build yourself in Cabbage. There is guarantee that the latest version of Cabbage will compile Lore correctly.  Lore is an advanced sound design workstation inspired by musique concrète, microsound and other pioneering sound technologies of the past several decades. It combines spectral and granular engines along with several other features designed to unleash the power of microsonic resynthesis.  *See Lore update log below "The concrete experiment in music consists in constructing sound objects, no longer from the interplay of numbers and metronomically marked seconds, but with pieces of time wrested from the cosmos."  Pierre Schaeffer, In Search of a Concrete Music   An Advanced Sound Design Workstation. Lore isn't simply a synth or effect a complete workstation for manipulating and processing sounds. Currently, Lore functions as a granular and spectral processor that opens as a plugin in a host like Ableton Live or Logic.  Lore dissects audio into tiny particles that can be stretched, spectrally delayed and surgically altered on very specific frequency bands. From there everything can be modulated for dynamically shifting, constantly-evolving sound sculptures. Much of Puremagnetik's development for the past several years has culminated into experimental sound processing tools. Lore absorbs these tools into a flagship, modular environment. Powered by Csound. Lore's entire engine is built on the powerful, open-source sound computation language Csound. Continually developed since the 1980s, Csound is an incredibly mature audio framework with immaculate sound quality. Open Source and Crowd Funded. Lore is freely available to compile on your own* (CC BY-NC 4.0) but also available as a plugin for patrons of the project. Updates are frequently being added. * to compile Lore on your own, you need Cabbage and the Lore folder from Github. Learning Resources. See the latest Lore User Guide. Recent updates April 14th, Lore Update 1.0.31 — UI and effects updates include FluxShaper effect module, UI color modes and UI scaling. See Video Feb 14th, Lore Update 1.03 — Introducing a new level of sound design flexibility with the JUMBLE and RAND operations. Jumble randomizes all elements of Lore, while RAND provides individualized delay spectrum randomization. See Video Jan 11th, Lore Update 1.0.29 — Lore 1.0.29 — Now you can take Lore's advanced sound design capabilities into the realm of 3D audio with a binaural encoder/panner. Automate the panning from within your DAW with 720 degrees of horizontal azimuth. See Video Dec 14th, Lore Update 1.0.27 — Orbiter spatial fluctuation module. See Video  Nov 15th, Lore Update 1.0.25 — Now with spectral blur. See Video  Oct 15th, Lore Update 1.0.24 — Added GhostEcho, Waveshaping Delay Modulator. See Video June 9th - Lore Update 1.0.2 — New Effects Section with Cassette, Particle Delay & More Lore has just undergone a significant update with a new modular effects section! The "Routing & Effects" section now includes 4 patch points Cassette, Particle, FilterVerb and ImpulseVerb Each effect is routed into the next  - similar to patching guitar pedals together - starting with patch point 1. Click on the 1 > button to go to the next effect. The effects section comes after the Spectral and Granular sections.   Cassette Analog cassette effect with controls for Age (warble), Dirt (debris), Audio dropouts and stereo shift.   Particle A Particle Delay effect similar to Puremagnetik's Partikl. Includes Granular chopping, delay time and feedback.   FilterVerb A modulating algorithmic reverb effect with a Moog style filter   ImpulseVerb A convolution reverb with a collection of impulse responses. Sept 14th, Lore Update 1.0.23 — Spectral Freeze added. See Video August 15th, Lore update 1.0.22 — Spectral arpeggiator added. See Video. New in version 1.0.14 (updated 5.12.22) Dynamic analysis band selection. Choose from 64-1024 FFT analysis bands. This is a single feature that fundamentally changes the types of sound design you can do. New in version 1.0.13 (updated 4.11.22) - Spline curves for modulation. Drag + Drop files into the UI. New in version 1.0.12 (updated 3.14.22)  - Live audio input for realtime processing, routing matrix between granular and spectral machines, convolution spaces and lots of performance updates. See the 1.0.12 video. Lore is open source and available on Github under (CC BY-NC 4.0). Minimum Requirements • OSX 10.8 or Windows 10 x64 • Audio Units or VST compatible audio host
