"Lorax" 16 x 20 Original Painting

"Lorax" is an original 16 × 20 acrylic painting by Brendan McCullough, featuring a powerful great horned owl who serves as an ambassador raptor at the Cascades Raptor Center in Eugene, Oregon. Brendan spent an afternoon observing, befriending, and photographing Lorax, building a quiet connection that informed every detail of this portrait. The result is an intimate and respectful depiction that captures not just the likeness of the owl, but the presence and personality of a seasoned hunter and educator. Set in rich nighttime hues, the painting evokes the dusky beginnings of night, when Lorax’s natural prowess truly comes alive. Deep shadows and cool tones frame the owl’s form, while her piercing gold-yellow eyes glow from the darkness, commanding attention and conveying alert intelligence.  This piece was accepted into a raptor-themed exhibition presented by the Cascades Raptor Center at the Emerald Art Center of Springfield Oregon in February 2026, making it both a striking visual statement and a meaningful celebration of wildlife conservation.
