No. 23, Green Yerba Mate

Energizing and refreshing, Illex Paraguariensis, or yerba mate as it is more commonly known, is an excellent alternative to traditional tea and is an herbaceous infusion with a history all its own. This widely consumed beverage, beloved by the Argentine people, enjoys a unique profile of slightly toasty (not smokey), yet delicate aromatics. Grab your rebenque and poncho, and sip from a traditional gourd and bombilla and imagine yourself exploring the Pampas. Yerba mate is part of the holly family and contains less caffeine than coffee, and slightly more than traditional tea.  Organic, fair trade.
