Look G85 Cezal Frameset

The Look G85 Cezal Frameset comes from a brand with a longer carbon manufacturing history than almost anyone else in the sport. LOOK Cycle introduced clipless pedals in 1984 and has been engineering carbon road frames for professional racing since the late 1980s — that foundation in carbon construction carries directly into the G85 Cezal, a gravel-specific frameset built in France for riders who want to build exactly the bike they want around a purpose-designed platform. The name comes from the Cezallier, a volcanic plateau in France's Massif Central, a region of rough gravel roads and open terrain that gives the bike its character reference: fast enough for sustained effort, versatile enough to handle whatever the route produces. At $2,750, the G85 Cezal frameset occupies a clear position: serious French carbon construction with the flexibility to accept a wide range of drivetrains, wheel standards, and even a suspension fork. It ships in Petrol / White across five sizes from XS to XL. For riders who know what components they want to run, or who plan to transfer an existing build onto a better frame, it offers LOOK's manufacturing depth without the cost of a fully configured complete bike. Carbon Frame and Fork Frame and fork are both carbon, reflecting LOOK's decades of experience in the material. The frameset weighs 1,150 grams in size M, including the integrated storage pouch — competitive for a carbon gravel frameset that has built-in storage already factored into that number. The carbon fork is designed to run tires up to 50mm and is suspension-compatible up to 60mm of travel, so riders who want more control on technical terrain have the option to fit a suspension fork without compromising the frame geometry. The bottom bracket shell is T47 Wide at 85.5mm — the threaded T47 interface provides reliable installation and easier servicing than press-fit standards, while the wide shell width accommodates the larger bearing assemblies that improve drivetrain alignment under load. Seatpost diameter is 27.2mm, which is narrower than the 30.9mm or 31.6mm most gravel frames specify. That's a deliberate engineering choice: the narrower post cross-section introduces vertical flex that smooths out rough terrain without requiring a suspension seatpost or dropper. It rules out dropper post setups, which matters for some riders building toward technical terrain. Geometry and Adaptability The G85 Cezal's geometry was developed around gravel riding rather than adapted from a road platform. Head tube angles run from 69.5° on XS and S frames to 70.5° on XL — on the slacker end of the gravel spectrum, designed for high-speed stability on rough descents and confident handling on loose terrain. Chainstay length holds at a consistent 425mm across all five sizes, keeping the rear end compact and handling predictable from the smallest frame to the largest. Bottom bracket drop ranges from 76mm on smaller sizes to 71mm on XL, keeping the center of gravity lower than most road-derived gravel builds. The frame runs 700c or 650b wheels, which gives builders genuine options depending on tire strategy: 700c for rolling efficiency and speed on faster courses, 650b for larger tire volumes and more cushion on rough routes. Maximum tire clearance is 50mm in single-chainring configuration and 45mm with a double chainring. Single and double chainring setups are both supported, meaning the frame is compatible with a wide range of mechanical and electronic drivetrains without adapter hardware or clearance compromises. The suspension fork compatibility — up to 60mm travel without altering frame geometry — adds another layer of adaptability for riders whose routes include more demanding terrain. Integrated Design Internal cable routing keeps the cockpit clean and limits cable exposure to the dirt, mud, and grit that gravel riding generates over time. The downtube integrates a built-in storage compartment with a waterproof pouch — fully recessed into the frame, sized to carry a tube, tool, and essentials. The storage is part of the frame structure rather than a bolted-on accessory, which keeps the profile clean and the contents sealed. On unsupported rides or events where resupply access is limited, having that capacity built into the frameset is a practical advantage that doesn't require a frame bag or sacrifice jersey pockets. The headset is integrated. LOOK recommends their LS3 stem and LS1 seatpost with the G85 Cezal, though the standard dimensions — integrated headset interface, 27.2mm seatpost bore — are compatible with third-party components from most major brands. Final Take The Look G85 Cezal Frameset is built for the rider who wants to spec their own gravel build on a proven carbon platform with real engineering behind it. The 700c/650b flexibility, suspension fork compatibility up to 60mm, T47 threaded bottom bracket, and integrated downtube storage make this a frameset with more range than the price suggests. At $2,750, it puts LOOK's French carbon manufacturing and a geometry developed specifically for gravel — not adapted from a road frame, not split between categories — within reach of riders serious enough to build the rest of the bike themselves.
