Benefits of Longan Components Seed Extract: Extremely rich in polyphenols (corilagin, gallic acid, ellagic acid), it exhibits significant anti-inflammatory, antitumor, and hypoglycemic (blood sugar-lowering) effects. It is also used to treat pain and promote blood metabolism. Husk/Pericarp: Contains high levels of antioxidants that help inhibit oxidation, reduce inflammation, and may protect against chronic disease. Safety Profile: Studies on longan seed extract (LSE) have shown it to be safe in repeated, moderate doses, with no significant toxicity reported in studies up to 13 weeks   Active Chemical Compounds by Part  Seeds: The seeds are a rich source of hydrolysable tannins and phenolic acids, specifically corilagin (the major compound), gallic acid, ellagic acid, and ethyl gallate. Other compounds include ellagitannins, 3-O-methyl-ellagic acid 4-O-β-D-glucopyranoside, and geraniin. Leaves: Phytochemical studies of the aerial parts (leaves) have identified ethyl gallate, astragalin, quercetin, luteolin, kaempferol, and proanthocyanidin A-2. Stems/Twigs: While less studied than the seeds and fruit pericarp, longan twigs (stems) have been shown to contain high levels of phenolic compounds that possess anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities.  Key Bioactive Groups and Activities Polyphenols: These are the primary active ingredients in all parts of the longan tree, known for their ability to scavenge free radicals and act as reducing agents. Tannins: Corilagin, found in high concentrations in the seeds, is recognized for its potent antiviral, antifungal, and antihypertensive effects. Flavonoids: These compounds contribute significantly to anti-inflammatory and anti-tyrosinase activities. Alkaloids: Found in both seeds and the pericarp, these compounds also contribute to antioxidant and hypoglycemic activities    **Product Safety & Allergen Information** Information is for educational purposes only and has not undergone FDA evaluation.
